Summary and how it applies to the 12 steps.

Step 3 of the 12 steps transfers from an idea or ideology to a step of action. It’s time to take the ideology of step 2 and apply it. Notable phrases in this step include: “Turn our will [over]” and “Power as we understand it”. North Palm Beach encourages anyone to use the program with their own concept of higher power.

You may see terms like “prayer” and “meditation.” This is why reframing these concepts is essential to your knowledge of the 12 Steps. Please be aware that turning your will over does not mean all control of life is out of your hands. The 12 steps is a collaborative effort, therefore individuals in recovery should identify what’s in their own control, and what is not.
